BLATTEN - A rockslide on the Bietschhorn massif on Sunday sent fresh debris onto the Birch glacier above Blatten. By Saturday night more than 90 people had already been moved. Sunday's images made the rest of the valley pay attention.
Cantonal teams said the glacier was carrying a load it was not built for. The village of about 300 had not yet been emptied. That decision sat in the next bulletin, not in a speech.
Instruments, then buses
Monitoring is what Switzerland does well until the moment it must do buses. The buses would come on Monday.
