BERN - Tuesday's remaining campaign stops for the Climate Fund initiative tried to make 0.5 to 1 percent of GDP sound like slope nets, heat pumps and farm transitions. The text would lock a spending floor into law. The Federal Council says climate policy already has instruments and that a fund this large would punch through the debt brake in spirit even if lawyers found a path.
No SVP, FDP or Centre cantonal section of weight is asking for a yes. That isolation is usually fatal on a federal Sunday. Greens argue that 2025's rejected environmental initiative was the wrong tool and that this one is narrower. Voters may hear only the word again.
A third climate Sunday
Defeat here would be the third climate-related no since 2025. The government would still owe a conventional framework, which arrived later as our 2035 targets.
