BERN - A public panel on the e-ID act on Thursday stuck on contractors: who would supply wallets, who would be allowed to demand an electronic identity, and how a citizen could live without one. Ministers said the login would be voluntary. Opponents said voluntary becomes expected the moment banks adopt it.

MPs from the autumn session sat in the back row. They will not vote on this again. They will still be asked about it at the market.
