BERN - The consultation on the Switzerland-EU package entered its loud middle stretch, with parties, cantonal governments and unions filing early positions ahead of 31 October. Wage protection and whether any ballot should need a majority of cantons dominated the letters that leaked.
The Federal Council still presents the texts as a customised bilateral path. The SVP presents them as dynamic alignment by another door. Both sentences can be found in the same explanatory report if you squint.
Farmers still waiting to speak as one
The Farmers' Union has a date later in October to discuss the food chapter. Until then every rural deputy speaks as a farm, not as a union. That is noisy, and useful.
