ZURICH - Mayors and city executives in Zurich and Geneva spent Friday arguing that a constitutional population cap would not pour a single foundation. They said care homes, trams and hospitals already hire at the border. A ceiling would show up as cancelled shifts.
SVP city sections said that is an admission the model is a treadmill: more people, more shortage, more people. They want the treadmill switched off. Tenant groups, who share the housing complaint, did not share the cap.
A city no, if the polls hold
Zurich later voted about 40 percent yes on the cap. The night map is in our result story.
