BASEL - Swiss Rhine ports said early June traffic had recovered from the winter payload cuts, with chemical exports toward Antwerp and Rotterdam leading the rebound. Water levels allowed fuller barges. Lock queues on the German stretch were the remaining delay.
Grain and containers followed. A port clerk in Kleinhueningen called it a normal June, which, after a nervous winter, counted as good news.
Art week will not help the quay
Art Basel fills hotels, not barges. The two Basels share a name and ignore each other's timetables, which is how the city works.
