LAUSANNE - SBB said extensive maintenance in French-speaking Switzerland would interrupt trains between Lausanne and Puidoux on two weekends, 5 to 8 September and 28 November to 1 December. Other works will put buses between Payerne and Murten, and between Chavornay and Yverdon-les-Bains.
IR90 and IR95 trains via Palézieux will add about 30 minutes on some days. The railway asked passengers to check the app, which is what it always asks, because the printed poster is already wrong by Tuesday.
Why the west, why now
Track, bridges and level crossings in Vaud and Fribourg are ageing on the same calendar. Doing the work in autumn avoids the worst of the ski peaks and the lake swimming peaks. It does not avoid commuters.
