DAVOS - Selected lifts on Parsenn and neighbouring areas opened in the first week of December after an early cold snap. Snow at village level remained thin. Higher pistes were skiable. Operators sold altitude, not a white main street.

Hotels were not yet at Christmas occupancy. They were glad of the German and Dutch weekenders who treat an open cable as a reason to book.

WEF is still a month away

The fences for the forum go up later. For now Davos is a ski town again, which is the version that pays the rest of the year.
