BERN - The Federal Assembly held a special session from 27 to 30 April to finish business that slipped off the March timetable. Transport credits and financial items dominated. Special sessions are unglamorous, which is why they sometimes get more done.

Party groups used the short sitting to test lines on army money and EU talks that would return in June and September. Nobody confused a four-day meeting with a grand bargain.

The summer session would take the heavier lift, including the nuclear ban vote in parliament.
