BERN - The Federal Assembly opened its spring session on Monday, sitting until 20 March. Health insurance costs, transport credits and leftover financial items filled the early papers. Party groups also had to keep 8 March in their heads: a Sunday that will judge public broadcasting, a climate fund, cash and married couples' tax.
President Guy Parmelin treated the opening as ordinary government, not as a rally. Whips told members not to skip votes this week in order to campaign. Some will skip them anyway.
What will slip
Special sessions exist because March never holds everything. The later overflow sitting is already sketched for late April in our April preview.
