ZURICH - Late trams toward Tiefenbrunnen, Wollishofen and the bridges carried more people than a normal Friday as overnight temperatures refused to fall. The lakefront filled after dinner. Lifeguards had gone home. Police asked bathers to stay inside marked zones and not to treat the lake as a 24-hour pool.
Kiosks sold water faster than beer, which is a heat statistic more honest than a speech. Rooftop flats in districts 3 and 4 were the other half of the crowd.
A housing story in summer clothes
People without a garden export the evening. Zurich's vacancy rate makes a lot of gardens. They just happen to be public.
