LUCERNE - Ascension Day on 14 May pulled bookings forward into Wednesday evening. Lake steamers and the trains toward Engelberg and the Rigi filled. SBB added sets on a handful of tourist axes and still expected standees.
Hoteliers said the guest mix was heavily Swiss and southern German, a short-hop weekend rather than a long-haul one. That is good business if the weather holds.
