BERN - SBB added carriages on selected routes toward the Grisons, Valais and Ticino as cantons staggered autumn school holidays. The first Saturday looked busy rather than blocked. Fog on the plateau delayed a cluster of morning trains between Olten and Zurich.
Families who did not reserve found the usual corridors. The railway's app said what it always says. The printed poster at the rural stop said something two hours older.
Roads still take the overflow
The Gotthard road was slower than a commuting Friday and faster than Easter. Police called it normal. That word, in October, is a compliment.
