ZURICH - City crews staged wood, barriers and extra bins along the lake on Friday for a National Day that falls on Saturday. Retailers ordered extra bread and beer. Police planned for a longer evening than a weekday 1 August, because nobody has to be at a desk at 7 a.m.
Official Switzerland will be at the Ruetli. Unofficial Zurich will be on a blanket, arguing about whether the fireworks are better from Enge or from Tiefenbrunnen.
