BERN - The Climate Fund initiative took 29.3 percent yes and 70.7 percent no on Sunday, with all 20 full cantons and the six half-cantons against. Turnout was 55.6 percent. It is the clearest map of the five items, and the bleakest for the Greens.
Lisa Mazzone said the climate remains a voter concern and that the fund was the wrong tool. That line is becoming a tradition. It was the third climate-related federal defeat since 2025, after February's environmental initiative and November's inheritance-tax idea.
Back to ordinary law
The Federal Council will now try a conventional framework rather than another popular fund. That path later appears as the 2035 targets.
