EINSIEDELN - Easter Sunday filled the abbey at Einsiedeln and sent a second crowd toward the lake towns, where the weather was cold and bright. Hotels that had warned about full books were not bluffing. A few restaurants in Schwyz and on Lake Lucerne put out extra tables and still turned people away at noon.

For families who stayed in the cities, the day was a walk and a closed shop. For the Alps it was a working Sunday.

Monday is the travel day home

Easter Monday return traffic will test the tunnels again. Our Alpine note is here.
