BERN - Energy committees spent Wednesday on the government's proposal to allow new nuclear plants, reversing the ban voters approved in 2017. Energy minister Albert Rosti calls the option insurance for winter supply. Green members call it a delay tactic against faster renewable build-out.
No one in the room pretended a new plant could pour concrete this decade. The political plant is the one that can still be stopped by referendum.
