Engadine Clerks Brief Councils on a Second-Home Tax Still in Mid-Air

SAMEDAN - Finance clerks in the Upper Engadine briefed communal councils on what a federal yes to cantonal property taxes on second homes would allow. They did not set rates. They showed how many cold beds sit on the register, and how few children sit in the school.

Tourism boards sat in the back and asked whether a dentist from Basel would still book the butcher. That question is the entire politics of the file.
