BERN - The spring session opened with health insurance premiums still rising faster than wages in several cantons. Parties repeated familiar lines. The left wants more federal control of costs. The right wants more individual deductibles. The centre wants a deal that can survive a referendum.

Farm payments and the first detailed hearings on post-Credit Suisse bank rules also appeared on early agendas. Neither file would finish in March.

Whips reminded groups that 2025 already had a February vote behind it and more Sundays ahead. Session time is not the same as campaign time, but the same people do both jobs.
