BERN - The summer session closed on Friday after a sitting that will be remembered for two floor stories: the National Council's no to Mercosur on 12 June, and both chambers' yes to lifting the nuclear ban on 18 June. In between, voters rejected a population cap and accepted a tighter civilian-service law.
Green groups said signature collection against the nuclear reversal would start next week. Farm unions said Mercosur was not finished if the Senate wanted a sequel.
Autumn already in the diary
The EU package waits for September. So does army money. The nuclear petition is the summer's extra campaign, in our Monday note.
