BERN - Green leaders said Friday that a parliamentary yes on new nuclear plants would be met with a referendum. Collecting 50,000 signatures in 100 days is a hurdle they have cleared before. Allied groups on the left signalled they would help staff the tables.
Industry and bourgeois parties said a referendum is the constitutional price, not a reason to keep the 2017 ban. Any actual plant would still take well over a decade. The campaign would be about electricity in the 2030s, fought with slogans from the 1980s and the 2020s at once.
